Whether it’s called a pre-sorter, 2nd stage, cyclone separator, or chip collector, they all do the same thing; filter out larger pieces of debris before going into your dust collector’s bag and extending the life of the filter. In this episode, I install one on a Delta 50-760. The early steps could be applied to any dust collector with only final fit specific to the Delta. Combine this with a pleated filter for a complete dust collector upgrade.

The Rockler fittings were not used in my install but is listed as an alternative from a more recognizable brand. Cheers.

Great videos, with some good insight on mods for this Delta DC. I’m looking to add a DC unit to my shop & have been researching this Delta. Wondering why it is that you didn’t use the reduction fitting 5″-4″ that you pointed out in the review video, on the port leading from the bottom of the motor to the top of the chip collector barrel? Would have saved you a good deal of fabrication time. Keep up the good work though.
Steve
Thanks for the comments. That adapter I showed in the review video is actually a standard 4″ port to a Dustright port adapter. No one makes a similar that I could find. There’s an all metal one available from Delta but I was going to show the Y-mod on the video anyway so I just used it.
